Extension of Erasmus+ Mobility Period

Extension of Erasmus+ Mobility Period (Summer Semester)

Incoming Erasmus+ students who wish to extend their study period at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” for the summer semester may request an extension of their mobility.

Please note that extensions are only possible within the validity of the Inter-Institutional Agreement between the sending and receiving universities and subject to faculty approval.

Procedure for Extending the Mobility Period

  1. First step – Check if an extension is possible:
    Students must contact both:
    • the Incoming Erasmus+ Team at Sofia University (incoming.erasmus@admin.uni-sofia.bg), and
    • their Erasmus+ coordinator at the home university to inquire whether an extension is possible.
      This must be done before 15 December 2025.
  2. If the extension is confirmed:
    The student and their home university must prepare:
    • an Extension Form, and
    • an updated /Online/ Learning Agreement (O/LA) including at least two courses from the host faculty for the upcoming semester.
      Additional courses can later be added during the “During Mobility” changes period to make the process easier.
  3. Signatures and submission:
    Both documents (Extension Form and O/LA) must be signed by:
    • the student, and
    • the Erasmus+ coordinator at the sending university.
  4. Application form:
    • The signed documents should then be sent to the Incoming Erasmus+ Team (incoming.erasmus@admin.uni-sofia.bg) at Sofia University for review.
    • The Incoming team will send the Application form to be filled as the final step for the student.
  5. Final approval:
    Once the documents have been checked, the Faculty Coordinator at Sofia University will sign the Extension Form.
    The extension becomes valid only after this signature.

Important Notes

  • Extensions are not guaranteed and depend on faculty approval, available places, and course compatibility.
  • Requests submitted after 15 December 2025 will not be considered.
  • If the sending university doesn’t have an Extension form you can download one form here.
  • Courses 2025-2026
  • If the sending university requires a new Acceptance Letter for the extended period, students must inform the Erasmus+ Office in advance so it can be issued.
  • The mobility extension is only valid after receiving written confirmation from the Incoming Erasmus+ Team.
